Safe Routes to School

Partnered with Safe Routes to School, we help get kids of all backgrounds and abilities on the bike.

By starting with children and the trip to school, communities become safe places for everyone to walk and bike. By creating safe places for everyone, communities take a major step towards meeting the national goal of ending traffic deaths on roads.

This partnership pre-dates Friends of FoCo Fondo. Since 2018, we have donated over $30,000. These funds have been given unrestricted, and they have used them in all sorts of ways: after-school bike clubs, geared bike fleets for middle-schoolers and elementary school kids, a trailer for storing equipment and serving more students, helmets, and mechanics in low-income apartment complexes to repair bikes. In recent years, Safe Routes has served up to 100 students with disabilities via adaptive-bicycling programming possible through our support.
