BIPOC Program
By partnering with like-minded organizations, we are able to increase access, opportunity, and community connection for BIPOC athletes.
This is the 6th year we’ve been able to offer scholarships to BIPOC riders, and it’s our original initative program!
This initiative includes a BIPOC rider meetup during event weekend.
Additional support that is available:
If you are a BIPOC rider and want to have access to the monthly educational calls, please reach out to Alejandra at alejandrasullivan73@gmail.com. While some of the calls are specific to our scholarship recipients, many will also be open to members of underrepresented genders regardless of your participation in the FoCo Fondo. As part of the mission of the Friends of FoCo Fondo, these educational calls are part of our efforts to reduce barriers to entry and to help support gender-expansive riders grow as athletes. We know that the creation of space for gender expansive athletes is just the beginning of the journey to creating a thriving field of competitive riders, and creating community and sharing knowledge is a big part of that.
Meet Alejandra Sullivan
BIPOC Program Leader Alejandra Sullivan (she/her) is a gravel and leisure path rider, constantly pushing herself to new limits. She started her gravel journey during the pandemic, exploring the many trails and dirt roads Fort Collins and the surrounding area have to offer. She was one of the recipients of the Ride for Racial Justice BIPOC Scholarship at SBT GRVL 2024. She has been a part of Queer+ Bikes from almost the beginning and is looking forward to creating a community with more riders of color. Alejandra also works to address inequities within higher education by centering holistic growth with everyone she works with.
If you have questions for Alejandra, you can reach out at alejandrasullivan73@gmail.com.
